Cubs runs on Wednesday evening, from 6.30pm - 8.00pm, at our HQ behind St Francis Church on Hollow Way.
Our membership fee, or 'subs', is a flat termly cost to cover membership. Currently, this is £40 a long term, which can be paid in one or in half-termly installments of £20. This can be paid online using the Online Scout Manger platform, or by cash/cheque on request.
Our weekly activities are many and varied - to find out about the badges and awards offered by Cub Scouts, please see the official Scout Association website here. Examples of our programme can be found on the main Cubs page on this website. We also tend to camp at least once a year!
Cub Scout uniform consists of a green sweatshirt, which can be purchased from Scout Stores here. We will provide a group neckerchief and any badges earned. Other clothing worn to Cub section meetings should be suitable for the activities we are running e.g. not school uniform. Please also bring a water bottle along in case of needing a drink!
We generally send a weekly email to parents with information about that weeks meeting, including any time/location changes or things that need to be brought along. These will also contain information about any camps or other upcoming important dates.
We have a behaviour policy at Cubs that is designed to ensure every can enjoy our activities - this is a yellow/red card system that ensures all Cubs have fair warnings about poor/disruptive behaviour, with verbal reminders leading to a yellow card warning, and eventually a red card that will result in suspension from activities.
Things like talking over adults, not listening to instructions, disrespectful behaviour towards others or not behaving sensibly during activities will result in a yellow card being given, which will require a conversation with the parent picking up at the end of the meeting. Multiple yellow cards in 1 term will mean a 1 week suspension. Fighting, bullying, dangerous behaviour that puts themselves/other children/adults at risk or receiving 2 yellow cards in one night will result in a red card being given. This will trigger a 1 week suspension, and may also result in the Cub being sent home from the meeting. Multiple red cards will result in a longer suspension, meetings with leaders regarding behaviour and eventually termination of membership. Acceptance of this policy is compulsory in order to attend our group.
